The Pick Up

Jack felt a thud on the back of his head. His body jolted and fell to the floor as a size 9 pressed upon the bottom of his back and a double barrel against his neck. Terry spoke in a slow, deep southern drawl “I warned you boy, time and time again”. With the hot desert sand burning his cheek, Jack tilted his head enough to see Jenny standing outside the truck, crying, arms stretched out with her mother holding her back. Thwack! This time Jack tasted blood. “Go near my daughter again… and I’ll put your balls in a vice.”

Hello! Thanks for following me also and I am so glad you like my short stories. I’m going to try and update regulary so keep an eye out and feel free to comment. I too love reading, I went through a book dry spell recently however just finished Starter for Ten by David Nicholls which was brilliant and very funny so highly recommend you pop it on your reading list.

WOW! Love it! It’s southernly love – the love between a southern dad and his daughter. And the imagery is great. Good piece
